| Kristi Kent |
Kristi received her BFA in drawing and painting from Georgia State University in 2000. Throughout her creative career, she has worked in marketing in both print and internet mediums. In her spare time, she enjoys various commission projects working in acrylic, color pencil and mixed media. When painting for herself, she prefers acrylic and focuses on creating painted compositions of color. Artist Statement: God's creation inspires my palette. The subject matter is beautiful, patient and limitless. Anyone who has ever stood in front of a snow capped mountain, a clear blue beach or a beautiful red sunset understands the awe of seeing something so beautiful. When we capture these moments through photo and video, it's often disappointing to find that not a single image truly captured the awe we felt. But not even the most precise painting can truly relay the beauty of a mountain or a rainfall. It is only capture through our experiences and then relayed again through our memories. So instead of creating a painting that is focused on the landscape, I focus on the color within the landscape. I try to place at least one recognizable object into the landscape so that the color makes sense. I love color. Sometimes when I am painting, I get so lost in the color, I forget I am painting a landscape.
