| James Green |
A native of Huntsville, Alabama, James Green joined the U. S. Army right after graduating from Lee High School in 1977 and served most of his military career in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. After serving in the first Persian Gulf War with the 101st Airborne, he eventually became the Range Safety NCO and No-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge at Yakima Training Center in central Washington state, where he served until his retirement in January of 1999. His love of drawing and art from an early age led to his pursuit of model building, illustration, photography, and writing as an avocation throughout his military career. These interests led to his becoming a regular contributor to FineScale Modeler Magazine and to the IPMS Journal. Late in 1998, as he prepared to transition from the military, he enrolled in the vocational graphic arts degree program conducted jointly by Yakima Valley Community College and Perry Technical Institute, starting his training as a graphic artist and illustrator in the fall of that year. Upon completion of his schooling, he returned to North Alabama in June of 2000, where he and his family have made their home in Fort Payne. Initially he worked as a graphic artist with Cryer's Signs in Fort Payne until January of 2001, when he began a four year stint as a digital pre-press and production graphic aartist with Vincent Printing Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In January of 2005 he left Vincent Printing to seek Associates Degrees in Art Studio, Business Administration, and History Education at Northeast Alabama Community College. He graduated in December of 2007 and eventually wishes to transfer to the University of Alabama to pursue baccalaureate degrees. Currently he is engaged as a full-time free-lance artist, illustrator, and graphic designer.
